In 2000, Robustiano Fariña decided to stop selling grapes to other producers and instead create wine under his family’s own label, building on three generations of viticultural tradition. Alongside his two sons, Baldomero and Robustiano, he established Attis, a family-run winery rooted in their own vineyards. Initially, the project relied on borrowed facilities, but in 2011, the family built a modern winery and brought on French winemaker Jean-François Hébrard as a technical consultant. They also began practicing organic viticulture, focusing on spontaneous fermentations, lees aging, and reducing sulfur use. Today, Baldomero manages the vineyards and shares cellar work with his brother. The winery’s name, Attis, evokes the Phrygian figure symbolizing cycles of death and rebirth, in a reflection of nature’s rhythms and the family’s own journey of reinvention in the wine world.
