Bodegas del Palacio de Fefiñanes
Bodegas del Palacio de Fefiñanes is located in the Palacio de Fefiñanes in Cambados, which dates back to the 17th century. The palace was originally built for the Viscount of Fefiñanes, and today it’s owned by Juan Gil de Araujo, the Marqués de Figueroa (and former president of DO Rías Baixas). In 1994, Gil Araujo decided to modernize the winery and hired winemaker Cristina Montilla. The modern brand dates to 1904, making it one of the oldest commercial wineries in Galicia and the first producer on record to commercially bottle and label an Albariño wine. In 1928, Fefiñanes introduced the Albariño de Fefiñanes label, created by Enrique Mayer, a jeweler and master craftsman from Santiago de Compostela known for his work with jet. The winery has maintained the original label to this day.
