Adegas Castrobrey

Adegas Castrobrey was founded in 1982 by José Castro Brey and Isabel Pereiro Becerra and and is currently managed by Ramón, the third generation. They farm 8.9 hectares of vineyards spread across 13 plots in the Camanzo Valley, in the Ribeira do Ulla subzone of DO Rías Baixas. The vineyards are planted to a mix of traditional grape varieties such as albariño, treixadura, godello, and caiño tinto, with some vines over 50 years old. They’ve practiced sustainable viticulture since 2000, eliminating the use of herbicides and maintaining permanent cover crops across all plots.

The vineyards and the winery are tucked in a valley along the left bank of the Ulla River, in the shadow of Mount Castromouro, which offers protection from strong southwestern winds. Historically, the land was once part of the domains of the 10th-century Monastery of San Salvador de Camanzo.
