Terras do Sur is a small, family-run winery located in the Condado do Tea subzone of Rías Baixas, in the town of Crecente—right next to DO Ribeiro. It was founded in 2016 by Jose ‘Pepe’ Canda Gil, a fourth-generation grower whose family traditionally made wine for local sale and personal use. Pepe manages 23 small vineyard parcels spread across six parishes, cultivating primarily Albariño and Brancellao.
The Wines
Albariño — 100% Albariño, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and rested for 6 months on the fine lees prior to bottling.
Viticultores Tinto — A blend of Caíño, Sousón, Espadeiro, and Garnacha Tintoreira. Grapes are destemmed and cofermented for 20 days, after which they are pressed and the wine rests for 1 year in stainless steel prior to bottling.
Brancellao — 100 % Brancellao. Whole clusters are fermented with 20 days of infusion, after which the wine rests for 1 year in stainless steel prior to bottling.
