Bodegas Lagar de Pintos, located in Ribadumia, in the Val do Salnés subzone of DO Rías Baixas, is a family-owned winery founded in 1996 by José Basilio Castro Pintos and his wife, Mari Luz Baña, and continues today under the stewardship of their daughters, Carmen and Marta Castro Baña.
Lagar de Pintos specializes in Albariño and produces various styles, including a young Albariño and three aged versions that undergo maturation for 10 months, two years, and four years, respectively. The winery is committed to sustainability, working with both estate-grown grapes and local growers with whom they have a long relationship.
The Wines
Lagar de Pintos 100% albariño from seven plots: Palomar, Cachada, Muiño, Ponte Arnelas, Aguieiros, Pontella, and Albar, with an average vine age of 40 years. Fermented in stainless steel and foudre, aged 8 months on lees with weekly bâtonnage. Blended before bottling and resting.
3000 Cepas 100% albariño from the oldest vines (over 60 years old). Grapes are hand-harvested and fermentation takes place in oak barrels with weekly bâtonnage, followed by 12 months of aging on lees in the same barrels. No malolactic. The wine is then bottled and rested for a year before release.
Pie Franco 100% albariño from vines grown on their own roots (ungrafted = pie franco, in Spanish) and planted on sandy, granitic soils at an elevation of 25 meters. Fermented in oak foudre and aged for 10 months in foudre.
